Delevan Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary
Here are the words spoken at Ruth's Memorial Service from the Delevan Volunteer Fire Company Personal...
Family Friends Fellow Firefighters and Auxiliarists
Normally I would pose the question "What is a firefighter?". Today I ask what is an auxiliary member? They are the person handing their spouse their jacket and car keys at 2:00 a.m. as they run out the door to the call of someone in need. Only to sit up for hours and wait for the call that their spouse and comrades need a hot cup of coffee on a cold winters night or a cold bottle of water on a hot summers day. They are also the person back at the hall with a hot meal after a long nights fire. They are the people who see a firefighter at their best and sometimes they are the first to see us at our worst. Since 1959 Ruth Weaver has ate slept and lived all of this in total support of her husband Wayne and his fellow firefighters.
Ruth Weaver will never again respond to our "roll call". She has answered our lord's final summons and it is with solemn thoughts that we assemble here to pay her public tribute of honor and affection. She was a loyal member of the Delevan Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary whose main purpose was to care for and support the firefighters and rescue squad personnel of the Delevan Volunteer Fire Company and the Delevan Rescue Squad.
