Person Description:
Rebecca June Ward, age 74, of Gallatin, passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at St. Thomas Hospital from complications of pneumonia.

She was born and raised in Providence community at Hartsville and attended the University
of Tennessee at Knoxville and Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin. She worked with WLAC radio and Third National Bank in Nashville. She traveled extensively with her former husband
with the U.S. Navy and IBM while on assignments in Virginia, Florida, California, New York and Nashville from 1956 until 1994.

She was a member of Vine Street Christian Church in Nashville and Gallatin First Baptist Church, and was a devoted member of the church choirs. She was past regent of the Sumner County Col.
Jethro Sumner Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Gallatin. She was very active in her days as a student, and in life, achievements including 4-H Club TN State and National Champion of the Biscuit Baking Contest. She was active in horseback riding, singing, and dancing, featured in numerous local recitals and
contests, also was on the staff of her high school newspaper and yearbook. She was Majorette in the Trousdale Co. High School Yellow Jackets Marching Band. A loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, she will be deeply missed.

Her father, Baxter native, Lawrence "Jack" Ward, and daughter, Edna Diane (Andy) Eagar, preceded her in death. Survivors include her mother, Ruth Nelson Reed Garrison of Gallatin, formerly of Gainesboro, Hartsville, and Castallian Springs; daughter, (Rebecca Wade (Frank) Cook; son, Richard Demonbreun; former husband, Wilbur Richard Demonbreun; and grandchildren, Grace and
James Wade, Rachel Cook, Timothy and Micah Demonbreun, and Andrew Eagar; one aunt, Edna "Bill" Petty of Texas City TX, and many
cousins and friends.
Service Information:
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Alexander Funeral Home chapel, 584 Nashville Pike in Gallatin. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vanderbilt Medical Center, Alive Hospice, Nashville or Gallatin First Baptist Church. Her living will has directed that her body be donated to Vanderbilt Medical Center for research. Her cremated remains will be placed for burial at a later date.
