Muriel Cates
August 4, 1922   -   June 18 , 2005

Obituary posted by : Jeremy S. Brown ,  Grandson
Person Description:
Muriel Virginia Cates, age 82, formerly of Morganfield and Henderson, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday June 18, 2005 in Naples, Florida. Muriel was born August 4, 1922 in Uniontown, the youngest child of Ty and Minnie Ford. She was a long time resident of Henderson and Morganfield, only moving to Naples in 2001 to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandson.

Muriel was a member of First Baptist Church of Uniontown, Kentucky. Her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and sharing stories of life and lessons learned as she and her family survived the Depression while growing up in Uniontown. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and was always ready to share a joke.

Preceding her in death were her husband Curtis Cates (who passed away in 1981), her brothers George, Taylor, and Jesse Ford, and her sisters Frances Lofton, Grace McBride, and Myrtle West. Muriel is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, JoAnne and David Brown, and by her grandchildren: Jennifer Brown, Dru Perkins, Layne Perkins and his wife Brandi, along with her great-grandson Kyle Perkins all of Naples, grandson Jeremy Brown of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and grandson David Brown and his wife Kris of Atlanta, Georgia.

Services were held on June 24, 2005 in Naples, Florida. She will be buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield. Muriel was a loving person and a dedicated mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She will always be remembered by her warm smile and loving, caring ways and generosity toward others.
