Although she never received any posthumous awards or ever had her name in any news headlines she was a Hero to many.
She did her part for our country by helping those in the Military (Navy, mostly) celebrate the holidays during the 70's and early 80's when they couldn't make it home to celebrate with their own families. She touched many a heart and soul with her friendship and love and she will be greatly missed.
Her mother, Lyla B. Quinn, father, Edward R. Carnes, Sister, Grace L. O’Brien, and son, Robert A. King, predeceases her.
She is Survived by her other children, Leonard (Terri) King of Corona, Ca., Gary (Terri) Moorehouse of Shelby, Oh. Joseph (Michelle) Geringer of San Jacinto, Ca., and Deana (James) Cox of Long Beach, Ca., also survived by her sisters, Katherine (Jack) Hollon of Eugene, Or, Paula Armstrong of Hayward, Ca., and Susan (Jerrold) Garner of Belmont Shore, Ca. 4 granddaughters and 9 grandsons, and many friends also survive her
(Catherine Cox, Terri Strong, Lawrence LaViolette) and many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
