Cyril J. Honz died at the age of 76 on January 20, 2003. Born a twin on April 18, 1926 in Dunlap, Iowa, Cyril was one of three children. He is preceded in death by his twin brother Cecil, sister Modesta, along with his parents Urban and Cleopha. Cyril survived by his lovely wife Lucille of 53 years and 7 children: Cyril Jr.,Mike,Steve, Linda, Cheryl, Mark, Maryann,their spouses; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He served with the U.S. Marine corp in WW11. Cyril and his family resised in San Diego, Calif. ince 1963. Cyril was an active church member with our Lady of Grace where he spent time praying for others in Adoration. His favorite sports were bowling and golf. He also enjoyed helping at the church pantry, helping the less fortunate. His love and devotion was admired by everyone who knew him. Everyone always felt they knew him forever. Cyril was admired for his devotion for his wife Licille. He cared for her the last two years during her battle with cancer. Miraculously she has recovered and is in remission.His words from the heart touched so many lives. The memories and legacies he left behind are monumental. Cyril took pride in all his childrens accomplishments. He was always there willing to help in any way possible. They were the joy in his life. He was an active member of the Teamsters Union and continued to be active during his retirement years. Cyril and Lucille enjoyed participating at church with the Italian Catholic Federation.
The viewing will be Thursday, Jan. 23, 6:30pm followed by the Rosary at 7:00pm, Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Funeral services: Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church on Friday, Jan. 24, 10:00am. The receptionwill be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church to celebrate his life following the burial service at Holy Cross Cemetery.
